LONDON — Arsenal would need to shatter the British transfer record to pull off a sensational swoop for Real Madrid superstar Vinícius Júnior, according to reports.

Senior sources indicate that any potential deal for the 26-year-old Brazilian international would require a transfer fee exceeding £125 million — eclipsing the current British transfer record.

Beyond the eye-watering transfer fee, the North London club would also have to break their internal wage structure to accommodate the forward. Reports suggest Vinícius currently earns in the region of £450,000 per week at the Santiago Bernabéu, with multiple sources indicating his true total earnings are considerably higher when performance incentives and bonuses are factored in.

A contract of that magnitude would instantly make Vinícius the highest-paid player in Arsenal’s history by a substantial distance.

For context, star winger Bukayo Saka currently sits at the top of the Gunners’ pay scale, taking home up to £400,000 a week following his latest contract extension. Meeting Vinícius’s wage demands would mark a unprecedented financial commitment as Mikel Arteta’s side look to reinforce their frontline ahead of the upcoming campaign.
