Exclusive: AS Roma Agree €40m Deal to Sign Chelsea Winger Alejandro Garnacho

ROME — AS Roma have finalized a definitive agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Argentine international winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to prominent football insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Giallorossi have accelerated their search for elite attacking talent this summer, identifying the 22-year-old winger as a cornerstone for their offensive restructuring. The transfer package is structured at an initial €35 million guaranteed fee, supplemented by €5 million in performance-related add-ons, satisfying Chelsea’s valuation.

While Roma initially pursued a temporary arrangement structured around a loan with a conditional purchase obligation, Chelsea directors maintained a firm stance throughout negotiations, demanding an outright permanent sale. A breakthrough was reached after intense discussions between the Italian side and the player’s management firm, Leader Sports Management, which successfully aligned the valuation demands. Garnacho, who previously favored remaining in England, explicitly welcomed the project at the Stadio Olimpico.

The winger is scheduled to travel to the Italian capital tomorrow to undergo a formal medical examination before officially signing a five-year contract. Legal documents are currently being finalized and executed by both clubs to wrap up the high-profile Serie A switch.

Garnacho moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United in August 2025 for an estimated £40 million fee. Following a complex season in London where he drifted out of the club’s long-term tactical project, this move provides the dynamic forward a clean slate under the bright lights of Rome.
